MERGE GALLERY is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition titled "Baby Carriages," featuring new works of oil paintings from Fulvia Zambon.
In her paintings, Fulvia Zambon creates scenarios of a strange childhood that occurs in an obscure setting and time. Using objects and memories associated with children and childhood the artist shares a fantastical story with the viewer.
These compositions are arranged by using a combination of her still life paintings, landscapes and photographs. In “Traveling with the Cat in the Trap” and “Sidecar to Superga” the baby carriage is being used as a form of transportation, while in “Jolie Going to Work” the carriage is used as an instrument for work. “Christmas” is painted with sharply accurate faces, showing the artists classical training as a portrait artist.
Fulvia attended the Accademia Albertina in Turin, the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan where she studied drawing the nude as well as sculpture with Lydia Silvestri. While attending the Art Students League she studied portraiture with Ronald Sherr.
