bill durgin - figurations
September 4 – October 11, 2008
Opening reception:
Thursday, September 4th, 2008, 6:00–9pm
Merge Gallery is excited to introduce the work of Bill Durgin in his first solo exhibition with the gallery entitled “Figurations.” Durgin is a New York-based photographer and his current series exploits the genre of figuration to propose a more seductive and uncanny composition of the body.
Durgin’s photographs reflect his fascination with the figure as a sculptural entity. His complex arrangements of the body require extreme contortion to achieve an austere effect, as if the figures have been abstracted.

jordan eagles - new blood
March 6 – May 3, 2008
Merge Gallery is pleased to announce our second solo exhibition of new works from Jordan Eagles. Jordan Eagles preserves blood on clear and white Plexiglas within layers of resin, suspending the organic medium’s fluid forms under the resin’s glass-like surface.
“New Blood” features a new technique—gradations of “aged blood” that create deep, black fields in stunning contrast to the medium’s rich, translucent reds.
Fulvia Zambon - baby carriages
December 13th, 2007 through February 28th, 2008
MERGE GALLERY is pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition titled "Baby Carriages," featuring new works of oil paintings from Fulvia Zambon.
In her paintings, Fulvia Zambon creates scenarios of a strange childhood that occurs in an obscure setting and time. Using objects and memories associated with children and childhood the artist shares a fantastical story with the viewer.

rifka milder - reflections
October 18 - November 10, 2007
Milder's art is fully inspired by nature in New York City. Thinking of the hectic scenes in the city, these stunning abstract paintings from nature give an ironic twist. However, she still has a powerful and dynamic city’s spirit in her fauvistic use of strong and pure colors. The depth of the dark color of the tree’s body is as deep as the aroma of an old oak tree, and the thick touch of dense green color of the leaves resembles a healthy and dynamic city’s life.
Angelika schubert - Cream + crack
(mercurial equilibrium)
September 20 - October 13, 2007
Angelika’s powerful abstract themes capture the eye right away with their dynamic and strong expressions. However, it does not end as just one whole completion, but the image keeps expressing itself, flowing, curving and spreading its own colors, forms and energy.
Emanuela Gardner - California Dreams
August 8 - September 15, 2007
"The work of Emanuela Gardner consists in reinterpreting and reinventing the forms of the world, studied with the patience and curiosity of one who has the gift for research and the capability to dig deeply to give back significance to the natural world."
- Rosanna Ruscio
